Architects: "How would you implement a way for end-users to self-identify as belonging to an audience?" For example, you have news targeted for skateboarders, and don't want to require an admin to get someone in that group.

This is a good, comprehensive set of questions. What's interesting is that I find myself able to answer almost all of the architect questions and I'm at a loss for some the easier ones.

What most people miss about SP is that it's a platform, not a "server". Asking someone if they know SharePoint is like asking someone if they know computers. It's broad and you really have to focus on some aspect of it.

Something I have noticed in my dealings with SP and in hiring SP consultants is that the people who are .Net developers are able to go much, much further with it than administrators and end users. I think that's because developers understand the underlying technology. If you're an ASP.Net developer, you can quickly understand SP technically.

Understanding how to translate business needs (taxonomy, business goals, etc) is the hardest part of being a SP consultant and it's more about people hacking than system hacking. Good post.
