over 2 years ago i posted some images of how from first versions of windows to present day windows xp, the application of solitaire hadn't changed...

with vista, the 'killer app' has undergone a wpf-ifying makeover. scale graphics, high-resolution decks, new animations (i haven't won yet to see what happens).

This might be one of the main reasons to upgrade to Vista ;-)

what about good ol' minesweeper
we lost the hack to show mines since win95
did we loose anything else in vista? or gain?

I have been running various Bet versions of Vista for soem months now. Last week I went out an bought a new copy of Vist Home Premium for my laptop.

Hapilly the XP version of Solitaire (sol.exe) runs on Vista because the new version absolutely sucks. On my Dell Inspiron 8600 the cards and the backgrounds are just about unreadable and there is a great deal of useless verbosity relating to saved games, etc. I simply copied sol.exe and cards.dll over to my Vista system and all is now well again.

Hello I am trying desparately to install the old xp solitaire on my newly purchased Vista computer, I have just began to look. The Vista solitaire is terrible I don't know why the changes were made. Mr. McKinnon

I'm ready to go back to XP just for the Solitaire. Why mess with perfection? Vista's is laborious, unreadable and no fun at all.
