• sharepoint: feedreader and flash web part on moss 2007

over the past few weeks i've been getting a few requests for if my web parts work on sharepoint 2007 (also referred to as moss).  well to be honest, time has been getting the better of me and i hadn't had a chance to test.

well tonight i fired up a windows sharepoint services 2007 instance and loaded the web parts AS IS to see what they did

after that i loaded them up.  here's the flash web part in action:

    sshot-1

and here's the feedreader in action:

    sshot-3

they rendered without issue for me.  there is something funkadelic in the upper left corner that i didn't bother to investigate (i'm sure a weird image reference).

as a reminder, the feedreader does not work well at all with proxy servers requiring authentication...and the recommended configuration for proxies anyway is to use the sharepoint web.config defaultProxy settings.

The image artificact is due to the fact that you are referencing an unused/unsupported property in your DWP - PartImageSall.

In v2, the value for PartImageSmall was never pushed to the page. In effect, it was a propety that WSS created but never utilized and was duely notied in the documentation.

In v3, ASP.NET's web part framework also contains the property and the they include the value as part of the title.

However, the PartImageSmall property is still technically unsupported and the documentation effectively remains unchanged between v2 and v3.

Solution: Remove the PartImageSmall property from the DWP.

    Hope that helps...

I've installed the WP fine, but I'm getting an error on any URL feed:
Error returned from FeedReader: Index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection. Parameter name: index:mscorlib

What do I need to do to put this right?

    Regards
