Free Silverlight 2 training CD

The team att AppDev is providing a free learning CD-ROM for Silverlight 2. They are providing it as a CD-ROM or download and said it represents a $115 value for their training…but are providing it now for free!

If you are familiar with MSDN Magazine, ASPNETPro, and other online/offline publications, the name Dino Esposito might sound familiar. Dino is the one providing the training walkthroughs for you in this offering. It includes roughly 3 hours of training on Silverlight 2 content. Get it now! Thanks AppDev!

UPDATE (30 JUN 2008):
The team at AppDev has heard some feedback and has altered their offer. Using the same link, the offer is now for the first 4 modules of Silverlight training. Additionally they have expanded the international distribution to the countries that can legally receive it -- this does not mean everyone unfortunately, but it does provide expanded scope. AppDev takes feedback seriously and wanted to make sure as many people could take advantage as possible.

Exciting but still many "Free" offers are exclusive of United States. Very sad that a wall is already build in the internet too.

I very much appreciate Tim's recommendations and usually every single one is a direct hit. Unfortunately this is not true for this one. I went through the registration process. Finally I could download 62 MB of content. 70% of it is general talk about the RIA space and why Silverlight makes sense. They compare it with Ajax, Flash and other approaches. There is almost no material in it, which actually TRAINS you, using Silverlight. The free and easy to grab content on Silverlight.net/learn is way better than this.

@Tim: Maybe you do your own quick review and maybe it would be better, to eliminate the recommendation as it might cause more disappointment than satisfaction. (No offense ment here.)

ALL -- thanks for your honest input. I'd ask that you also provide the feedback to AppDev. Generally Dino is a great resource for information. I suspect that those of you who didn't find it terribly useful are already beyond the basics...my understanding is this is really for people who haven't explored Silverlight yet at all.

I have provided feedback to AppDev regarding the registration process, etc as I had the same feelings -- I chose to post the resource even with that hurdle. At times I do forget about US-centric offers and to those overseas, my apologies :-(.

I did take a minute to look at the content and probably could have done a better job setting up the content...my apologies :-( I will strive to ensure they are more refined resources for my readers in the future -- I think the resource is intended for more who have not looked at Silverlight 2 yet.

Next time, please don't keep anything US centric. The best of the breed programmers are arising in countries like India, China, etc. So such content may benefit them more than US programmers.

That will be a bold statement to make. Even I am from India but it is absolutely illogical to claim that.

Let us all appreciate the fact that Tim has acknowledged our comments and suggestions and is ready to consider it for future posts.

Also the CD can be downloaded only from US and there is not much that Tim can do about it. He has just introduced the free material to us and that's it. We should be rather writing mails to Appdev rather than Tim, about the same.

I got the CD on Monday.

I have to agree-it is more of a demo to see if you like their training interface and training style (and it just-so-happens to be about "SilverLight," instead of, maybe, "how to dance a Polka," or "How to chop scallions," or "How to stop being a 98 pound weakling," etc.) than a true "training CD-ROM for SilverLight."
