In a few weeks I’ll be making the journey with Corrina and Arturo from ‘the states’ to Auckland, New Zealand for the WEB09 conference.  I’m honored to be joining some great folks like Ryan Stewart, Dan Rubin, Jarred Bishop and more.  I’m looking forward to learning a lot from this conference and having discussions about user experience and RIA development.

The team at WEB09 released an introductory video for the conference and I must say, someone put a lot of effort into this video: WEB09 Intro Video

I’m very much looking forward to my time at WEB09 and the time in New Zealand in general (I’ve never been, so if you have some advice, please share).  Hopefully some of you will be there and we can meet in person and chat about Silverlight! See you in a few weeks!

If you drank Coke and got caught while working at Pepsi, you would be fired!
I think that should apply to Microsoft as well.

If you use flash and got caught while working as SL PM @ Silverlight, you should get 100 whips! :-)

BTW, I meant to say while working @ "Microsoft"!

Chris -- I would love to come to Australia! We were trying to make a tour of it for WEB09 and then do the same thing in Australia, but the budget didn't work out :-(. I just heard they announced ReMIX Australia for July!

Just watch a few episodes of "Flight of the Conchords" and you'll be up to speed with New Zealand.

Hey Tim,

Would love to pay for the ticket to listen your conference in Oz.

Just to say for NZ, I've heart that people who knows how to talk with Sheep survive well. You decide :)

Cheers,
Rick.

Hi Tim:
Just to say thanks for your presentation this evening at Xero's in Wellington -- and answering my barrage of questions! Very informative.

And impressive. Silverlight 3 is going to be a hit...we just need the penetration, and MS to deliver it on Mobile as well.

But impressive as the current features are, my tearsheet of things to hope for being added at some point in the near future will be:

+ A shim! Oh yes! Please, a shim! for Mobile! Can't express how *badly* I want to write an app for mobile that has som visual mojo ...
+ That autobuilt form near the end of the presentation was neat as heck...Checkboxes, dateboxes, textboxes...Wow. Hopefully there is, or will be added a means to describe a string as being for larger inputs (eg: require a (multiline) textboxes...or better yet, an attribute that allows specifying the custom control best suited for the entry job. And (maybe) it should be "hinted" in case its not available on client? ).
+ Better install with subfolders (eg: StartMenu/Company/Product/Run Product) because branding is important...urls just don't do it.
+ Better uninstall (eg: StartMenu/Company/Product/Uninstall). For non-geeks. Or geeks who don't want to *ever* run your app again (eg maybe it has a real bad mistake such as an infinite loop poping up popups, driving them crazy) in order to get to that right-click unload...
+ Drag drop of external string info onto Ag surface (ie, that one can drag an url from a browser onto an Ag surface for it to record it). ie OOB, sandboxed functionality, but not sandboxed in terms of data. Although maybe drag/dropping string data/icons across Ag instances can be handled via cross instance sockets? I'll have look into that.
+ Output (printing?) I havn't looked into that yet at all...
+ Addition of a small Cursor object with a static Position property to figure out where the mouse is upon clicks (right now we have to do primitive work of recording mouse location earlier in OnMouseMove... Seems a bit primitive.
+ etc.

But that wishlist aside, what's already there -- the element binding, the pixel effects, the variable streaming...wow! Congrats to your whole team!

Regards,
Sky
