With the Silverlight 3 Tools for Visual Studio, developers get access to the Silverlight Navigation Application template.  By default the styles (which are located in the project’s Assets/Styles.xaml file) are really good and neutral for the application layout.  Now, keep in mind this is an overall application layout style and not control styles/templates.

In addition to the default look provided by the tools out of the box with Silverlight 3, we’re providing 7 additional application template themes for you to enjoy, extend, whatever.  Corrina and team had developed these for the community to consume and we’ve put them up on the Expression Community Gallery for download.  Here’s a preview with the links to each template:

Aurora (also available for RIA Services Template):

Frosted Cinnamon Toast (also available for RIA Services Template):

Lime Shocker (also available for RIA Services Template):

Pinky (also available for RIA Services Template):

Retro:

Skyline:

Subdued:

There you go, we hope you enjoy them.  Download the zip file and you will see a Styles.xaml file included.  Simply put this in the applications Assets folder, replacing the default and you will automatically have the new theme in your application.

Hope this helps!

Hi Tim
After I do SL3 clean install on Visual Studio 2008 Team System SP1, everything just fine,
and when I create the Silverlight project every is fine too, but I don't see the design view in my workspace, I can see only the source view with lines of code.
I tried to re-istall many times, but still get the same result.

Hi Tim,

Thanks for the post.
You have 2 broken links ("theme" instead of "thme"), here are the fixed links:

Aurora for RIA Services Template:
gallery.expression.microsoft.com/riathmeaurora

Pinky for RIA Services Template:

Hi Tim,

It is so nice.
However some templates don't show text of datagrid.
I create silverlight navigation project and added datagrid control in the page then applied skyline template and I cannot see any text only in the datagrid.

Do I need change or some styles for that?
Thanks

Hi, I'm trying to create themes for navigation frame and page but I don't see any visual states for Pages, for example I want to animations when the pages are changed(when they load and they unload), there is something implemented regarding this? Thanks.

Hi Tim, great templates and easy to implement! I've been trying to add multiple templates and change them via a dropdown box, but no luck. is there any way to apply a different template in code?

I'm having trouble with the Aurora theme. The 'LogoIcon' style is applied to the ContentControl in MainPage.xaml. Unfortunately, the 'swooshes' in the background are actually above the content, and are blocking it. I have a button that the swoosh partially covers, where the hand mousepointer shows properly on most of the button, but disappears over the swoosh. This leads me to believe the swoosh is actually over the button in that area instead of being below it as would be expected.
