Silverlight community samples – what do you want?

I normally hate short posts – but my friend John Papa put a poll up that I wanted to make sure gets some attention…please provide your opinion on this poll:

What kinds of samples would you most like to see in a community Silverlight code sharing site?

Help John out shape something useful!

my 1 cent to the cause.
MVVM for the Enterprise, using asp.net authentication, wcf, ria services and things that can actually help developers to understand scalability and develop with the idea in mind, and not out of box implementations that looks good only in presentation.

keep up with the good work !

examples of a "real" app with some common things like:

Login form not allowing users to self-register.
    user chnage password option.
pick theme from list (colors, styles ui)
business task/process - like say order entry that needs a multi-table edit case with the order commited / fail as a transaction.

    Hi Tim

I am generating pie charts dynamically in SL3 using wcf service as data source. My application potentially can generate about half a million different charts. I would like to know how to display the values and lables within or around the pie sections.

I love your videos and you are a great presenter. Thanks and keep up the good work!

Sorry Tim, I can't vote, because there is no "others".

    Hi Tim,

I would really like to see a sample application that combines Microsoft Patterns and Practices (Prism V2), .NET RIA Services, and SL3 features (multi-page application) with a real-life scenario that takes into account authentication and authorization and, very import, security (so no unencrypted passwords being send to the server).

I managed to create a sample application that uses Prism, .NET RIA Services, and multi-paging by combining samples from each of these topics into one application, but I am now stuck trying to add authentication and authorization using SSL. I want to make a site in which users can log in or sign up for an account. I still don't know if I can do the whole site in Silverlight, or need to use some ASP.NET pages to do the account creation and logging in (there is a lot of documentation available on how to do this in ASP.NET), and then move to silverlight and use a session ID or something similar, or (preferable) I can do everything in silverlight. In the .NET RIA Services documentation there are a few lines about SSL, but I can't get it to work.

I think there really should be more focus on security in the examples available on the net. There often will be a disclaimer ("for a real application, always use SSL"), but then the example just continues sending plain passwords to the server etc. For people trying to make their own application, it is so easy to make an insecure application thanks to the many, many examples, but so very hard to make a secure one thanks to the lack of proper, real-life examples.

I see there is a lot of material available on the UI part of Silverlight, which is of course very nice, but what I miss is documentation on how to create a solid architecture that forms the base of every serious application. I always compare it to the foundation of the building: even though foundations can't be seen from the outside, they do prevent the building from collapsing.

Thanks for all your great posts!

I am looking for sample using .NET RIA services for polling for data. This might be needed to display live reports, etc.
