Smashing Magazine February 2010 Windows 7 Theme

it’s that time again…beginning of a new month!  That means that Smashing Magazine has released their monthly wallpaper pictures again.

Smashing Magazine February 2010 Wallpaper

As you could expect, February entries are full of a lot of Valentine type stuff.  Here are your February Windows 7 Theme Packs for the wallpapers though…including all images (note: some ‘without calendar’ images are not provided by the authors) unfiltered.

UPDATE PLEASE READ (4-Feb):

There is an issue with the .themepack file for some reason.  Although I’m using the prescribed mechanism for creating these it is not functioning as easily as the January one.  I’ve got some folks on the Windows team looking into it, but no resolution yet.  In the interim, you can extract the .themepack file using 7-Zip (a free and great utility) and then double-click on the .theme file where you extracted it.  This should trigger the installation of the theme.

For details on these and to see past ones, visit the Smashing Magazine Windows 7 Theme information for the specifications I used for the theme pack as well as previous themes.  Want to participate and submit yours?  Join in!

Your jan 2010 theme pack was awesome.

I downloaded this pack but it is not getting added as a theme. What could be the problem? I tried with Microsoft's Bing's Best and it is working.

    你好,贵公司二月的主题包不好使,无法载入

My download/install worked after I extracted the themepack to the C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Themes and then selected the Theme from Personalization.

Extracting doesn't work for me, even using 7-Zip into a new directory in the Theme path. In the Personalization Window the little desktop pictures background is blank and theme won't load.

When you are in the folder C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Themes you can simply remove all pictures from the january thempack, and copy the extracted jpegs into the january folder (.\DesktopBackground) - after that simply set the theme to the january themepack in the themes control panel.
    It's a hack but it works :)

Okay here is the work around, www.windows7hacker.com/.../download-windows-7-t...

it's easy all you need to do is extract it first, and double click the theme file inside

Jonathan -- thanks for the workaround -- Although I'm not sure I appreciate 'didn't do it the right way' -- I did it the same way the Windows guide tells you to and as well as talking with the Windows team (who is currently helping to debug why it isn't working) I did it right as well.

    Tim,

Thanks for creating this awesome theme. The unique backgrounds really shine. The January one was great and I'm sure the February one will be as well, once the problem is figured out. Some of the other comments have been a little on the negative side and I wanted to make sure you know we appreciate your efforts. I'm hoping for one in March, April, etc. Keep up the great work!

    Thanks,

The pic remains me the fairy tale about a man who was a leader of a group of people and they were going somewhere and it was very hard for them to go and when there were only several miles left they all lost their faith and the man tored his heart from breasts and lightened the left piece of their way. :)
